Foley, age 27, of Watertown, passed away on January 22, 2026, following a tragic accident that claimed his life, leaving behind a grieving family, wide circle of friends, and a community that deeply admired him. His sudden passing has left a profound sense of loss among all who knew him.
Born on August 26, 1998, in Carthage, New York, Hunter lived a life defined by passion, adventure, and a generous spirit. A graduate of General Brown High School, he was an enthusiastic athlete in both hockey and lacrosse, then carried his love for sports into adulthood by serving as a respected hockey official across local youth leagues, high school games, and community competitions.
After earning a degree in Criminal Justice from Jefferson Community College in 2018, Hunter continued to contribute to his community in many ways. At the time of his passing, he worked locally and was known for his dedication, integrity, and kindness. Hunter’s passions extended beyond work — he embraced the outdoors, enjoying activities such as golfing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and especially four‑wheeling with friends through the Tug Hill Region.
Hunter was beloved for his big heart and infectious personality. Friends and family fondly remember his humor, resilience, and loyalty — qualities that brought joy to every gathering and made ordinary moments unforgettable. He approached life with an adventurous spirit, seeing every day as a chance for new memories.
He is survived by his loving parents, Michael J. and Jennifer P. Foley; his brother, Riley C. Foley; his faithful canine companion, Remington; his maternal grandfather, Daren L. Morgan; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who cherished him deeply.
Hunter was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Beverly Morgan, and several other family members.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to wear Hunter’s favorite attire — jeans, boots, hoodies, or flannels — in tribute to his spirited personality. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Spook Hill Bar & Restaurant in Adams, NY.
Hunter’s life, though far too brief, was rich in love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. He will be remembered for his compassion, adventurous soul, and the joy he brought to those around him.
